VIGICLIMM… a useful project!
🌐Partnering with 𝗠𝗙𝗜 is having access to world-class experts to train and strengthen the level of skill of your teams on specific topics. Indeed, through our filiation with Météo-France, we are in capacity to mobilize highly qualified specialists from the best scientific centers around the world in order for them to share their experience and their knowledge.
⛅ For example, during the month of October, within the 𝗠𝗗𝗣𝟮𝗚 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 we are carrying out for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Kuwait, we organized two 2-week training sessions for 14 staff members of the 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 on the wide, complex and crucial topic of climatology and climate services.🧑🏼🎓The trainees assisted to classes given by experts from Météo-France , Copernicus ECMWF, KNMI - Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut and World Meteorological Organization on subjects as varied as:
✅ computation, homogenization & rescue of climate data,
✅familiarization with the concept of 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳,
✅ presentation of Copernicus’ Climate data Store,
✅or focus on climate services development for better adaptation policies in a context of global climate change, etc.
Of course, the presentation of MFI’s Climate Data Management System 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗬𝗦 was also part of the training program.
🙏🏼 All these sessions were a wonderful opportunity for great scientific cooperation with many enriching exchanges, comparison of practices and share of knowledge. We thank all participants (trainees and trainers 😉) for their interest and commitment.

💎 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀! Providing sophisticated technical solutions that would be of no use for end-users makes no sense to us… So we pay a great deal of attention to what comes out of the technical ecosystems we implement and how it can help National Weather Services provide better services to their populations and main economic sectors.
📅 Our mission last week in Abidjan, in collaboration with SODEXAM Côte d'Ivoire, is in perfect line with this approach! Indeed, its objective was to work on two different targets the VIGICLIMM Project wishes to address.
1️⃣ First, we organized a workshop with representatives of ADERIZ (National Agency for the Development of the Rice Sector) and 8 volunteer rice farmers. The objective was to present them the first version of a mobile application MFI is currently developing to provide 🌾 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗜𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 thanks to tailored agro-weather indicators. A serious asset for national food security! The participants confirmed the needs for such an app, and committed to test it in 2025 during the rice-growing season in order to refine its functionalities and make it as useful as possible, and reach more users in 2026!
2️⃣ The second target addressed during the mission was general public with several meetings organized to specify the ways and means of implementing 📣 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀. These meetings were carried out with our partner PREDICT Services, specialized in risk prevention and management, and representatives from SODEXAM and ONPC (Ivorian National Agency for Civil Protection). The objective was to clarify the role and expectations of each stakeholder, identify communication channels and the necessary organizational changes to be made in parallel with the implementation of the early warning system.
🛣️ As we progress through the VIGICLIMM Project, the future benefits of the project appear more tangible and concrete every day... That’s definitely a great source of satisfaction for us 😊!
